Hybrid Designer for PA and Front End Modules- San Jose, CA

Description
Join this team focused on developing leading-edge solutions for 4th Generation Wireless Products. A team consists of a Project Manger, IC designer(s), Hybrid designer(s), and technician(s).

Develop innovative Solutions for Multi-Band and Multi-Mode Front End Modules (FEMs) for the following standards: GSM, EDGE, W-CDMA, LTE, and WiMAX. These modules are designed to be 50 Ohms utilizing a mixture of lumped, distributed, and on chip matching. You will be responsible for the RF design of the module that could utilize FBAR, SAW, E-pHEMT, D-pHEMT, InGaP HBT, BiFET, CMOS, PCB, or LTCC technologies. You will own all design and integration aspects of the module and need to work with the RFIC designers to determine the optimal partitioning of the technologies to be used for this approach. The challenge is to meet or exceed the Cost, Performance, Size, and Schedule constraints for the solution. This process will require a balance of simulation tools such as Agilent’s ADS, the Cadence Suite, Momentum or Ansoft’s HFSS, and hands-on testing and integration work in the lab.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on RF/Microwaves
* Five years of experience in RF PA design and related fields
* Working knowledge of Semiconductor Technologies used in Power Amplifiers
* Proficient with CAD tools such as ADS, Momentum, HFSS, Cadence Suite
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-oriented, team environment
* Demonstrated ability to work independently, and create and meet schedules
* Strong Communication Skills

Desired Requirements:
* Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on RF/Microwaves
* At least Five years of Analog RF, PA, or FEM Design Experience
* Experience with RF filter design in Single and Multi-Layer Substrates
* At least Five year of PA RFIC design to lead the IC design function
* Experience with Wireless System Design for Cellular or Data Markets
* Hybrid Chip-On-Board Design and Prototyping Experience
* Proficient in use and Programming of RF Test Equipment
* Experience taking a product to Volumes greater than 500k/month

IC Layout Engineer - San Jose, CA

Description
You will be doing substrate design in FBAR filters and mmW active circuits 2/3 or your time. In this capacity you will be working as part of a product design team integrating IC die into final products by designing the substrate for the product on which the IC die resides. The other 1/3 of your time you will be doing IC tape-out by working closely with IC design teams to assist with DRC & LVS, perform layout cleanup, gather layout cells and compose reticle arrays, organize mask review meetings, create final GDS data, generate mask submission documentation, then interface with internal Reticle Service Team to submit mask job.

Qualifications
• B.A. or B.S in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics
• 10+ years of IC layout & tape-out experience in an RF/Microwave/mmWave R&D environment.
• Strong Cadence Virtuoso Layout and Assura or DIVA DRC/LVS skills.
• Strong LINUX and Windows user-level skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive attitude, with a desire to learn and contribute in a fast paced global team.

The position is a hands-on technical and administrative decision making manager. A strong understanding of GaAs PHEMT monolithic integrated circuit design and manufacture is required including performance, fabrication, and layout. The position also requires detailed knowledge of the commercial 6 to 86 GHz marketplace including point-to-point radio, ground satellite, fiber optics, and instrumentation applications. The position requires working with a small staff of MMIC designers and making performance, economic, and schedule decisions.

The position is for a design manager of full-custom mixed-signal RF and microwave integrated circuits. Design experience is required in one or more areas including:

- 6-20GHz, 20-33GHz, 37-45GHz, 60-86GHz bands
- Amplifiers including Low Noise, Linear, Power, buffers, drivers, trans-impedance, differential, and traveling wave.
- Frequency Converters including; up-converters, down-converters, frequency multipliers, pre-scalars.
- Surface Mount Packaging including; DC to 50GHz, Chips scale, Laminate, LCP, 3D EM modeling.

The breadth and variety of circuit design opportunities extends far beyond this short list. WSD provides catalog and custom RFIC/MMIC designs to the major microwave point-to-point radio manufacturers in the world. You will work with marketing to specify requirements and manage the implementation of design, test, prototype sampling.. In addition, you will supervise the transfer of designs into manufacturing including assembly partners, BOM, production test limits, quality tests, and data sheets.

Qualifications
