R&D mmwave Manager - San Jose, CA

Description
Our Client's Wireless Semiconductor Division is a world leader in providing RF through mm-wave component solutions. We are looking for a MMIC design manger to continue our success.

The position is a hands-on technical and administrative decision making manager. A strong understanding of GaAs PHEMT monolithic integrated circuit design and manufacture is required including performance, fabrication, and layout. The position also requires detailed knowledge of the commercial 6 to 86 GHz marketplace including point-to-point radio, ground satellite, fiber optics, and instrumentation applications. The position requires working with a small staff of MMIC designers and making performance, economic, and schedule decisions.

The position is for a design manager of full-custom mixed-signal RF and microwave integrated circuits. Design experience is required in one or more areas including:

- 6-20GHz, 20-33GHz, 37-45GHz, 60-86GHz bands
- Amplifiers including Low Noise, Linear, Power, buffers, drivers, trans-impedance, differential, and traveling wave.
- Frequency Converters including; up-converters, down-converters, frequency multipliers, pre-scalars.
- Surface Mount Packaging including; DC to 50GHz, Chips scale, Laminate, LCP, 3D EM modeling.

The breadth and variety of circuit design opportunities extends far beyond this short list. WSD provides catalog and custom RFIC/MMIC designs to the major microwave point-to-point radio manufacturers in the world. You will work with marketing to specify requirements and manage the implementation of design, test, prototype sampling.. In addition, you will supervise the transfer of designs into manufacturing including assembly partners, BOM, production test limits, quality tests, and data sheets.


Qualifications
A Masters Degree (MSEE) and 10 years industry experience or Doctorate Degree with 5 years experience. The candidate should have experience managing small groups of designers and making difficult technical decisions. The ideal candidate will have designed and released MMIC products from 6 to 50GHz including simulation (ADS and/or Microwave Office), layout (Cadence), test (s-parameters, load-pull, noise), and high volume (thousands per month) production.
